Interesting Cities El Menia
Located approximately 245 km south of Cairo on the Western Bank of the Nile River which flows north through the city, Minia occupies the floodplain of the Nile River and extends for about 120 km along the river. It also extends out toward the oases in the Western Desert. Because of its strategic location in Middle Egypt as a vital link between the north and the south of Egypt, the citizens of Minia surnamed it "Bride of Upper Egypt".

On both its Eastern and Western sides, Minia is surrounded by two ranges of mountains and, while falling away from seaside, the city acquired the property of a continental climate. Thus, the weather is harsh and chilly cold in winter yet very hot and not humid in summer.

- Beni-Hassan - the location of fascinating tombs of the Middle Kingdom period
- Amarna - site of the short-lived capital of the "heretic pharaoh" Akhenaten, best known for its rock-cut tombs

Beni Hasan is a small village and an important archaeological site approximately 20 km south of the city of Minia. Located on the Eastern Bank of the Nile River, this interesting site consists of "rock-cut" tombs overlooking the river valley with magnificent views. The necropolis of Beni Hasan consists of 39 tombs carved and decorated in an ideal spot in the limestone cliffs. The "chapel-tombs" of Beni-Hassan became the only remnant of this era of power and wealth. They are extremely important because their walls reveal more information about life in Egypt 4 thousand years ago more than any other monument in Egypt. In fact they provide more insight about daily life in Egypt than about the rulers who constructed them.

Amarna (Al-Amarna) is a significant archaeological site in the governorate of Minia. It is located between the Eastern Bank of the Nile River and the high plateau of the Eastern Desert, approximately 58 km south of the city of Minia, 402 km north of Luxor and 312 km south of Cairo.
